Forest fire season already busy one locally

Scenes like this were reported throughout the area recently. This fire was at Robinson Creek on the hill behind Carl D. Perkins Apartments. Pike County Emergency Management Director Doug Tackett said there were several fires reported in the county. No structures were reported damaged and rain this week tamped down the fires. During the fall, the forest fire hazard season runs from Oct. 1 through Dec. 15. During this time, it is illegal to burn anything within 150 feet of any woodland or brush land between the hours of 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
