One injured in single-vehicle crash

A one-vehicle collision involving a pickup and a utility pole at Dix Fork on Monday, Jan. 18, resulted in a man being transported to the hospital and treated for his injuries. According to KSP Trooper Jason McLellan, the collision snapped the utility pole, which in turn sent live power lines down on the truck and surrounding area. McLellan said the man, who was not identified, had a history of medical problems and that it appeared as if his medical condition was a major contributing factor to him possibly blacking out and hitting the pole. Aside from McLellan, who continues to investigate, the Big Creek Volunteer Fire Department and Appalachian First Response also responded to the crash.
